Five for Fall Series - intro to…

Join us for several fun and insightful classes. Each class is $20

*Classes must have minimum of six students or it will be cancelled and refund issued. Thank you for your understanding. 

Intro to Veggies

September 14th 6pm

Explore the lives of vegetables before they make it to your plate. We will first take a walk around the farm and see how our garden grows. Smell, touch, and taste what we have available. We will take a look at the Standard American Diet and MyPlate while learning a bit about the history of our food system. Break the old rules and come play with your food! Leave with a handful of veggies and recipes.

 

Intro to Flowers

September 21st 6 pm

Take an in-depth look at some common flowers and the most obscure ones. Learn to identify our local natives and the invasive plants affecting our area. Discover which of the weeds in your front yard are edible. Look at their intricate parts and learn their favorite pollinators. We will go for a short walk around the farm to stop and smell the flowers. Leave with a handmade arrangement of your fresh cut favorites!

Intro to Bugs  

September 28th 6 pm

Explore the weird world beneath our feet! Learn the difference between bugs and insects. Take a walk around the farm to break down your fear of creepy crawlies by seeing them hard at work. Learn about the art of composting with worms and collecting honey from bees. Step into their world to understand the positive work they do in our backyards. Leave with a homemade natural bug repellent and a deep appreciation of all they do for the environment!

Intro to Herbs

October 5th 6 pm

Go beyond basil and oregano. Explore how herbs can add dimension to your food and daily life. Learn the Materia Medica for a variety of widely used culinary herbs. Smell, touch, and taste what we have growing as we take a walk around the farm. We will discuss some history of the Silk Road and how these herbs have been spread across the Earth for centuries. Leave with a homemade infused oil and fresh cut herbs!

 

Intro into Being Mindful

October 12th 6 pm

What is mindfulness and how can it benefit your daily life? Learn how Yoga, meditation, and breathing exercises affect the mind and body. Explore Mindful Eating with chocolate! Practice a walking meditation through the Lavender Labyrinth. Leave with a handful of tools to become more present and focused, as well as a voucher for a free Yoga session.
